100th Stamps
#LV100
GOAL
The aim of the work was to create a postage stamp collection for Latvian Post, which will be used as an asset for Latvia’s centenary celebration.
CONCEPT
Latvia’s centenary postage stamp collection is created in two parts.
The first part of the work is a digital copy of the first issued Latvian postage stamp in 1918, created by the great Latvian graphic artist Ansis Cīrulis (1.1), then adapting it to modern standards.
The second set of stamps are inspired by the first stamp production conditions and print specifications – they were printed on German army card paper (1.2.), which at that time was the only quality paper available in recently established Latvian Republic. The stamp set is an abstract illustration of map of Latvia, highlighting terrain and map marks.
